Perth and Kinross braced for flooding as yellow weather warnings issued for rain and thunderstorms

Perth and Kinross is braced for more potential flooding over the next few days with thunderstorms forecast.

After a spell of hot, dry weather, rain is set to return this week.

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place for the entire region from noon on Tuesday until 11.59pm.

A further warning for heavy rain is in place from midnight on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday morning.

The Met Office is warning that “flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds”.

Travel disruption is also possible while rural communities even face being cut off if roads flood.

Power cuts are possible and other services to homes and businesses could be lost.

Temperatures are also set to dip slightly over the coming days but it will remain mild, while the weekend once again looks dry.
