Personal trainer claims Tottenham star's work ethic is 'unparalleled'

Steven Bergwijn is certainly putting in the effort to make himself a regular starter under Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho next season in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old Dutchman joined Spurs in January from PSV Eindhoven and marked his debut with a spectacular goal against Manchester City.

Mourinho admitted that Bergwijn had not been his choice of transfer but that he had been impressed by the winger in the flesh after working with him.

The Netherlands international suffered an ankle injury in March but returned to action after the return of football in June, scoring in the first match back against Manchester United.

However, he only started two of the remaining eight matches of the season with Mourinho preferring Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min in the wide roles.

Bergwijn might be on holiday now with the next Premier League season starting next month, but has not stopped his hard work as he looked to force his way into Mourinho's starting line-up.

His personal trainer Rani, who heads up Rani Training, posted an Instagram Story of him running at night with the young Spurs winger, after the trainer had just returned from a working holiday in Ibiza.

It was captioned with: "First person to text me to work out when I landed. Worth ethic unparalleled. #latenightworkout"

Tottenham have high hopes for Bergwijn who scored nine goals and laid on 14 assists last season in both England and the Netherlands.

His versatility will also help him get game time as he can play on either side of the pitch and also through the middle.

During Harry Kane's injury absence, Bergwijn even played up front at Stamford Bridge in Spurs' defeat to Chelsea before the lockdown.
