A member of staff at Edinburgh Pure Gym has tested positive for Covid-19, however those at the chain say a number of measures are in place which prevent further transmission.
A personal trainer was found to have the virus this week, and is self-isolating for two weeks as a result.
However Pure Gym say they have several strict procedures in place in order to ensure one case doesn't become an outbreak, and staff and customers are kept safe.
They say those attending the gym won't need to worry about further transmission as the environment is "Covid-secure" and designed in a way to ensure the virus cannot spread easily.
Pure Gym add there is a requirement for all staff and users to remain socially distanced at all times, while at least 2000 litres of fresh air is pumped into the gym every second through their ventilation system.
A spokesperson for the chain confirmed news of the positive test, but said cases have been
“On Wednesday a personal trainer at our Fort Kinnaird gym notified us, as per our protocols, that they had tested positive for COVID-19. This personal trainer is recovering well and is now self-isolating at home and will not be back at work for at least 14 days and until they feel well enough.
"Since re-opening in August we have had in total four members and one member of staff notifying us of a positive COVID-19 test and 84,000 member visits. There is no evidence these individuals who tested positive caught or transmitted COVID-19 in the gym, which operates strict COVID-19 protocols including social distancing and enhanced cleaning and hygiene regime.”
There are currently six Pure Gyms in Edinburgh with branches at Quartermile, Granton, Conference Square, Gorgie Road, Ocean Terminal and Fort Kinnaird.
