A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after a head-on crash at Cameron Park.
The collision occurred on Cameron Park Drive about 1.40pm on Friday.
An occupant of one of the vehicles - a man aged in his 30s - was trapped for a short time before being freed by emergency crews.
He suffered chest, pelvic and limb injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
The occupant of the other vehicle - a man aged in his 40s - escaped with minor injuries.
Police have closed Cameron Park Drive in both directions and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
"It's always challenging when are dealing with multiple patients in such a busy area," NSW Ambulance Inspector Ash Cutten said.
"Rescue crews did a fantastic job extricating the man while providing ongoing treatment.
"We encourage all road users to take extra care as we head into the festive season."
