One seriously hurt after car crashes into tree and catches fire

A major road through Powys is closed in both directions after a serious crash.

The crash happened on the A483 at Llanwrtyd Wells between Llandovery Road and Sugar Loaf train station just before 1pm.

According to the Welsh Ambulance Service, a patient has been taken to Morriston Hospital with serious injuries.

The collision involved one vehicle, which crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Emergency services - including the air ambulance - were called to the crash and the road remains closed.

A spokeswoman for Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We received the call from the fire service at 12.52pm.

"We sent an ambulance and two rapid response vehicles. The air ambulance was also at the scene.

"One patient was conveyed with serious injuries to Morriston Hospital."

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire Service said the incident involved one vehicle which crashed into a tree and caught fire.

They arrived at the scene at 12.47pm.

Dyfed-Powys Police are also at the scene and said the council has been informed regarding diversions.
