Person taken to hospital following 'serious collision' between bus and HGV on the A6

A person has been taken to hospital following a 'serious collision' between a bus and a truck on the A6 near Lyme Park.

Pictures from the scene show a badly damaged lorry next to a single decker bus which appears to have hit a wall.

The crash took place just after 7am on Friday near to the entrance to National Trust stately home.

Paramedics took one person to Stepping Hill Hospital.

Police say the bus driver and a number of passengers also sustained minor injuries.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 7.02am this morning to reports of a collision between a bus and a truck.

"Three ambulances were sent to the scene along with a rapid response vehicle and a senior clinician.

"We assessed a number of passengers on the bus and one person has been taken to hospital."

It's not clear how many passengers were on the bus.

Emergency services remain on the scene and the road is expected to remain closed until around 2.30pm.

Speaking earlier today a Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "At 7.04am on Friday 12 June police were called to a serious collision on the A6 near Lyme Park in Disley.

"The collision involved a HGV and a bus with passengers on board.

"Ambulance attended to the scene and police remain in the area.

"A number of road closures are in place and drivers are advised to avoid the area."

Poynton Fire Station tweeted: "Our crews are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A6, Disley, near to the entrance to Lyme Park.

"The road is currently closed and is unlikely to be reopened for a significant time."
