There is a major emergency services response on North Hill Street in Toxteth, with armed police reportedly on the street and an ambulance service tactical commander among those at the scene.

There are reports a woman may have been injured but this is unconfirmed at this stage - though the ambulance service confirmed they took a person to hospital.

Witness Mohammad Shopon, who lives nearby, spoke to the ECHO from the scene.

He said: "I was outside my house and I heard like a bang, it sounded like fireworks.
