Person taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash in Heaton

One person has been taken to hospital after two vehicles crashed in Heaton.

Emergency services were called to Chillingham Road, near Tesco Express, at just before 3pm on Monday.

Two people were treated at the scene - one had no significant injuries while the other was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with back pain.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "At 2.49pm today (Monday), we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Chillingham Road, Newcastle.

“Motorists are advised that there will be increased congestion in the area.”

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “We got the call at 2.44pm to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

“We sent two ambulances and there were two off-duty doctors at the scene.

“One person refused transport to hospital and one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with back pain.”
