Person taken to hospital after emergency services called to high street

A person has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to Downend.

The ambulance service was called to Downend's High Street just after 12.30pm today (Friday, April 8). Images of the scene show several ambulances outside the St Peter's Hospice shop, with police also in attendance.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 12.36hrs to an incident in Downend.

"We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, a hazardous area response team, an operations officer and a critical care car, and are conveying one patient to hospital.”

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said they were called to the scene at 12.47pm to assist the ambulance service.
