'Person taken from River Liffey' in heroic rescue operation by Dublin Fire Brigade and Civil Defence Force

Heroic Dublin Fire Brigade workers and members of the Civil Defence Force sprang into action this morning saving someone spotted in the River Liffey by the public.

The brave workers rushed to the scene when the alarm was raised on Thursday morning after multiple 999 calls.

The person was taken from the River Liffey at Heuston Station as the hardworking crew jumped into the water to help the member of the public in difficulty.

The crew fought tirelessly to keep the person afloat until the shallow water jet boat arrived bringing them all to safety.

A spokesman for DFB said: "Earlier this morning one person was taken from the River Liffey at Heuston Station following multiple 999 calls.

"Members of Dublin Civil Defence Force secured the person until our shallow water jet boat arrived."
