Person struck by train near Glasgow as cops rush to station

Emergency services have rushed to the report of person being struck by a train near Glasgow this afternoon.

Police and ambulance crews scrambled to Whitecraigs train station in East Renfrewshire after the alarm was raised at around 11.16am.

The individual suffered serious injuries and has been rushed to hospital.

Local reports suggest there is a huge emergency response currently in attendance.

Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

ScotRail bosses confirmed: "A person has been struck by a train between Neilston and Glasgow Central.

They added: "Whilst emergency services attend the incident, trains are unable to run between these stations."

Trains have since resumed.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to Whitecraigs railway station at 11.16am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."
