Person struck by train as emergency services race to rail line near Barrhead

A person has been struck by a train on a rail line south of Glasgow.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and are dealing with the incident, which happened between Barrhead and Kennishead stations at around 3:30pm.

Services between Glasgow Central and Barrhead, Carlisle via Dumfries and Kilmarnock will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until around 6pm.

A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said they were responding to the incident near Priesthill and Darnley station.

She said: "We were called shortly before 3:30pm to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"We are still in the process of responding alongside the paramedics".

Ticket acceptance is in place with McGills between the following stations; Glasgow, Tradeston, Shawlands, Pollokshaws, Pollok, Nitshill, Barrhead, Auchenback, Barrhead, Neilston.
