Person shot at North Riverside Park Mall: officials

A person was wounded in a shooting Sept. 25, 2020, at the North Riverside Park Mall, 7501 Cermak Rd. | Google Maps

The North Riverside Park Mall was closed Friday after a shooting left a person wounded at the west suburban shopping center.

An argument broke out between two males about 3:21 p.m. inside the mall, 7501 Cermak Rd., when one of them fired shots, according to Village of North Riverside officials.

A male was taken to Loyola University Medical Center with two gunshot wounds, officials said. He was “alert and conscious.”

Two suspects were taken into custody during a traffic stop by North Riverside police, officials said. The mall has been closed for an investigation.

In June, a man in his 20s was shot in the south end of the mall’s lower level, and a 22-year-old man was killed in a shooting behind the mall’s Olive Garden restaurant at the end of May.
