Person rushed to hospital after getting stuck in mud

A person was rushed to hospital after getting stuck in the mud at a nature reserve.

Emergency Services leapt into action at around 11am on Wednesday, October 27 following report of a person stuck in the mud at Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve in Warrington.

Four fire engines from Stockton Heath, Penketh, Widnes and Powey Lane attended the scene along with the North West Ambulance Service.

Firefighters got to work searching the area before using an inflatable raft to reach the person and bring them to safety.

They were then passed into the care of paramedics.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 11am firefighters were called to reports that a person was stuck in mud at Woolston Eyes Nature Reserve.

"Crews were dispatched to the scene and on arrival they conducted a search of the area.

"After locating the person the crews used an inflatable raft to reach them and bring them to safety, they were then passed to the care of paramedics.

"Firefighters were detained at the scene for around 90 minutes."

The Woolston Eyes Reserve is between the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal, near Latchford Locks and the Thelwall Viaduct which, carries the M6.
