Person rushed to hospital after being hit by train in Leeds

A person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train in Leeds.

Disruption has been caused for train services this morning after emergency services were called to deal with the casualty on the line between Leeds and Horsforth.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to the line in Leeds at 7.59am today (Tuesday) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, and a person has been taken to a local hospital.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

LNER, which operates on the line, said earlier that someone had been hit by a train.

Northern Rail said that the line should be opened around 10am and that replacement travel was organised for people while the emergency services dealt with the casualty.

A Northern spokesperson said: “Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Horsforth and Leeds, trains running through these stations in both directions will be delayed or cancelled.

“Replacement road transport for our customers will be available until normal services resume.”
