Person rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Cardiff

A 27-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Cardiff.

The incident happened at around 6.50pm on Thursday evening on Ty Wern Road between Rhiwbina and Llanishen.

Police said the woman was hit by a Suzuki jeep as she tried to cross the road.

A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said the incident involved a car and a pedestrian.

She said one person was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Heath by ambulance.

Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

An eyewitnesses said there was a heavy police presence in the area and that officers had closed the road.

She said: "Driving conditions are dreadful in the area.

"The road is shut between where the old Monico cinema used to be and Lidl.

"I just hope everyone is ok."

South Wales Police was asked for comment.
