The person responsible for a shooting that left residents on a quiet cul-de-sac in Tameside terrified is still at large police have confirmed.
The drama unfolded in Droylsden at around 7:40pm on Thursday evening, July 1.
Nearby residents reported seeing cars driving erratically in the area around Gardenfold way, Garden Avenue and Fold Avenue, before hearing two loud bangs.
Officers confirmed evidence of a firearm discharge was then found on nearby Gardenfold Avenue near the junction with Market Street.
No injuries were reported.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
However in an update today the force confirmed no one had yet been arrested or charged in connection with the incident.
They are appealing for anyone who may have information, "however minor", to come forward.
Local residents told the Manchester Evening News the incident had left them in a state of shock.
One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said the cars he saw whizzing around the area beforehand "must have been doing 60mph”.
“They went off like a bat out of hell" he said.
They unbalanced me with the wind after. The car on the wrong side of the road clipped the pavement.
“If I had been on the crossing at the time… I would not like to think what would have happened. They went so fast you could not even see the registration [plate].”
Another said: "I live alone and there are a lot of people with young children and I think there is not enough of a police presence.
“I suffer from anxiety and I’m glad that I did not witness it as such.
“It scares you to think things like that are going on in your local area.”
Police said patrols had been stepped up in the area whilst their investigation continued.
"This happened on a hot day when no doubt people were out enjoying the weather and thankfully, no one was injured by this shocking act," Detective Inspector Abdul Kahar of GMP's Tameside district said.
"There are multiple witness accounts that now provide a general picture of the events that have taken place, however the public's input is vital to us piecing together a more detailed picture to assist in identifying those responsible.
"We're keen to hear from those who were in the area at the time, including anyone travelling by car who might have dashcam footage of the area.
"Any information, however minor could prove to be useful."
