Two people were rescued from Merseyside beaches in a night-time callout for Southport Lifeboat.
The volunteers received reports from Holyhead Coastguard that a person was stuck in the mud near Southport Pier at around 7.30pm on Friday, June 3. Quad bikes from the base headed out to the pier channel where they found the person and freed them.
Just as they were washing the vehicles down the crew received another report of a man who was in danger of becoming cut off by the tide at the River Alt. The ATVs headed to the Alt where they soon found the man and managed to escort him off the beach to the waiting Southport and Crosby Coastguard Rescue Teams.

"The ATVs proceeded to the channel where they found a person stuck in the mud. Our crew freed the individual and escorted them back to the boathouse for a welfare check.
"Our crew had just finished washing off the equipment before the quads were tasked to a male in danger of becoming cut-off by the tide at the River Alt.
