Person rescued from Avon Gorge after getting stuck on cliff face

A person was rescued from the cliff face of Avon Gorge this afternoon. Fire crews rushed to the scene near Clifton Suspension Bridge following reports of a person in need at around 2pm.

Crews were deployed to Clifton from Southmead, Portishead, Nailsea, Hicks Gate, Temple and Avonmouth. They were able to rescue the person safely using rope rescue equipment.

An spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Southmead, Portishead, Nailsea, Hicks Gate, Temple and Avonmouth were called to Clifton with reports of a person in need of rescue at 14:01.
