A person was rescued from the cliff face of Avon Gorge this afternoon. Fire crews rushed to the scene near Clifton Suspension Bridge following reports of a person in need at around 2pm.
Crews were deployed to Clifton from Southmead, Portishead, Nailsea, Hicks Gate, Temple and Avonmouth. They were able to rescue the person safely using rope rescue equipment.
An spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Southmead, Portishead, Nailsea, Hicks Gate, Temple and Avonmouth were called to Clifton with reports of a person in need of rescue at 14:01.
"On arrival, crews found one person in need of rescue from the cliff face. Using rope rescue equipment, crews were able to rescue the person.
"The individual was assessed by ambulance colleagues at the scene and had no major injuries."
