Person pronounced dead after police rush to incident near Gatley train station

A person has been pronounced dead after police were called to an incident close to Gatley Train Station this morning (October 27).

Emergency services attended the scene shortly after 10am, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

All services were suspended while the police operation was underway.

Ambulance crews also responded, but the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the coroner has been informed.

An spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called to the line near Gately at 10.02am this morning (Wednesday 27 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Gatley railway station is on the Styal Line between Slade Lane Junction in Longsight, Manchester and Wilmslow, Cheshire.
