A man was shot to death Tuesday in south suburban Calumet City.

Police were called for reports of a gunshot victim at 11:09 a.m. in the 200 block of Pulaski Road, according to a statement from Calumet City Police Chief Christopher Fletcher.

Officers arrived to find 57-year-old Erdell C. Anderson with a gunshot wound to the torso, Fletcher and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Anderson was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 1:04 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy found he died of his gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Investigators are questioning a person of interest, Fletcher said. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The case remains under investigation, according to Fletcher. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 708-868-2500.
