A 22-year-old man was killed in a crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 290 in west suburban Bellwood.
About 5:45 a.m. a semitrailer was parked on the right shoulder of I-290, west of 25th Avenue, when a car crashed into it, Illinois State Police said.
A man in the car, Jermiah Simmons, was pronounced dead at 6:10 a.m., according to state police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The right shoulder and right lane of the expressway were closed for an investigation, state police said.
Autopsy results were expected Thursday afternoon.
