Person in hospital after Glasgow house blaze which saw firefighters battle flames through night

A person was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation following a house fire in Glasgow.

Firefighters worked through the night to battle the fire in Ardmory Avenue in the Toryglen area of the city, after the alarm was raised around 7.20pm on Tuesday.

Six fire engines were sent to the scene and one appliance remained there on Wednesday morning.

Pictures from the scene today also show fire-damaged debris outside the two-storey property.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.30pm on Tuesday, 23 November, officers were called to assist the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service at the scene of a fire on Ardmory Avenue, Glasgow.

“We can confirm that one person was taken to hospital for treatment following smoke inhalation. There are no suspicious circumstances.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.20pm on Tuesday, November 23, to reports of a fire within a two-storey dwelling in Ardmory Avenue, Toryglen, Glasgow.

“Operations control mobilised six fire engines to the scene and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.”
