Person in hospital after crash in Bury just streets away from shooting that saw an 18-year-old killed - and a new police cordon is in place

A person is in hospital after a crash in Bury just streets away from the fatal shooting that saw an 18-year-old killed this week.

Ambulances and police were called to Talbot Grove, the scene of a car crash, at around 11pm on Thursday evening (August 13).

Three people were involved in the collision and one was rushed to hospital, confirmed a spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service.

The spokesperson said: "We attended with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle and we took one patient to hospital, but there were three people involved altogether.

"We were at the scene for around half an hour."

Police have also established a new cordon around a back alley near to the site of both the crash and shooting this morning (August 14).

An alleyway between Harry Whitehead Court and Halvard Avenue appears to be being combed by forensic investigators.

A CSI van is currently parked up at the scene, according to eyewitnesses.

It is not yet known if the police cordon is related to the crash, or if either are related to the shooting of Cole Kershaw earlier this week.

Greater Manchester Police has not responded to multiple requests for comment about the crash and the new cordon from the Manchester Evening News .

Cole, 18, was shot in the shoulder on Chesham Road, Bury, on Wednesday evening (August 12) - tragically caught in the crossfire of two groups of men.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but sadly later died.

Police say they believe Cole was not the 'intended target' of the shooting.

It is believed he was a passenger in one of two vehicles which were involved in a chase away from Bury town centre.

When the cars came to a halt in Chesham Road, Cole climbed out of the Ford Mondeo before a man in the other vehicle, a silver-grey BMW, fired two or three shots from a handgun.

One of the bullets hit Cole in the shoulder.

Residents living near the scene said they heard the teenager's pained screams for help.

A murder investigation was launched and several roads in the area remained cordoned off throughout Thursday, with forensic officers working at the scene.

The gunman is still at large.

Tributes have since poured in for the tragic teenager who lost his life.
