A person was hospitalized Friday after a workplace accident at a packaging facility in west suburban Geneva.

Authorities were called about 6:30 a.m. at Power Packaging, 2089 Pillsbury Drive in Geneva for reports of an employee trapped in a machine, according to the Geneva Fire Department.

A female employee was injured when she was trapped in a conveyor belt assembly, Geneva fire said. The company’s maintenance staff was able to disassemble the machine and free her before authorities arrived. She was taken to an area trauma center for treatment.

Nicole Porter, a company spokeswoman said the employee was a temporary agency worker.

“Safety is a priority at all of the Power Packaging facilities, and we are currently focused on investigating this incident,” Porter said in a statement.
