Police are now treating an incident in Melbourne's bayside suburbs as a mental health issue, after responding to reports a person may have been holding two others hostage.
Police were called to an address on Brighton Road in Ripponlea just before 2:00pm after receiving reports a person may have been armed with a firearm.
Specialist units were negotiating with a woman inside an apartment.
Police have since said the incident has been resolved and the call was made to triple-0 by someone who believed there was a hostage situation.
The woman has been taken to hospital for assessment.
