Person 'hit by train' on Scots rail line as emergency crews race to scene

A person has been hit by a train between Arbroath and Dundee.

The tragic incident happened this evening with emergency crews racing to the scene.

Trains have now been axed between the area as investigations continue.

ScotRail said: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Arbroath and Dundee.

"While the emergency services attend, we can't run any trains through the area.

"You can use your tickets on the Stagecoach 73 and 73A buses between Dundee, Arbroath and all stations in between.

"Despite our best efforts, we've not been able to get hold of any replacement buses.

"Our last trains of the day from Dundee will still run, albeit with delays. "

British Transport Police have been contacted for comment.
