Person hit by train near Loughborough, East Midlands Railway confirms

Railway services have been disrupted after a person was hit by a train near Loughborough, the operator has confirmed.

The incident was reported by East Midlands Railway around 7pm on Thursday (September 10).

Emergency services are attending the area at Loughborough.

Some services on Nottingham routes have been affected by disruptions.

Rail replacements are being arranged as it is currently not known when trains will start moving again.

East Midlands Railway (EMR) tweeted: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train near Loughborough.

"Services on our Intercity (to/from London St Pancras) and Ivanhoe (Lincoln/Nottingham/Leicester) routes are being disrupted. More information to follow shortly.

"Ticket Acceptance has been arranged for you to travel with other operators. We are working to source rail replacement transport to help you continue your journey.

"Emergency Services and Network Rail staff are onsite at Loughborough. We currently have no estimate for when trains will be able to move again in the area."
