Person hit by train near Glasgow as emergency crews race to scene

Emergency services are responding to reports that a person has been struck by a train near Glasgow.

The victim was struck on the line between East Kilbride and Thornliebank stations at some time this morning.

The condition of the person hit is not known at this time.

A spokesman for Scotrail confirmed staff were working very closely with the emergency services to deal with the incident.

All services between Glasgow Central station and East Kilbride have been cancelled or revised.

The spokesman said: “Sadly, we have received reports of a person being struck by a train between East Kilbride and Thornliebank.

“We're working closely with emergency services during this time. Train services between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride will be cancelled or revised.”
