Person hit by train between Whifflet and Cumbernauld

A person has been struck by a train between Cumbernauld and Whifflet.

ScotRail revealed the news with a social media post just after 6pm on Wednesday evening.

The line between both stations was closed following the incident, but re-opened after emergency services cleared the line.

ScotRail warns that there may still be ongoing delays and disruption.

The condition of the person is unknown.

British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
