Person dies after being hit by train between Croy and Polmont

A person has sadly died after being hit by a train between Croy and Polmont this afternoon.

Scotrail confirmed emergency services have been called to the scene after reports of an incident on the Glasgow Queen Street line shortly before 1pm.

British Transport Police told Glasgow Live: "Officers were called to the line in Falkirk at 12.44pm following report of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."

Train services have been delayed as a result.

Scotrail advised: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Croy and Polmont.

"The emergency services are on their way.

"We're going to divert our Edinburgh - Glasgow Queen St services that normally run via Falkirk High. These will now run via Falkirk Grahamston instead."
