Man, 20, hospitalised with head injuries after being hit by 'gritter' in East Lothian

A 20-year-old man was hospitalised after being hit by a lorry in East Lothian.

Local sources believe the pedestrian was struck by a gritter in the accident on Monday evening.

The collision took place on Court Street in Haddington at round 6.30pm.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

He was treated for minor head injuries.

Gritters were out last night as sub-zero temperatures swept across the country.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed the incident with the Daily Record on Tuesday morning.

The force later released further details surrounding the accident.

A spokesperson said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision involving a lorry and pedestrian on Court Street, Haddington, around 6.30pm on Monday, November18.

"The 20-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a minor head injury."
