Person found dead in house in Llandaff, Cardiff, prompting closure of nearby school

An investigation is under way after a sudden death at a house in Cardiff.

Police were called to Hendre Close in Llandaff on Thursday at 10.15am.

A statement from a South Wales Police spokesman said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time – and is not being linked to coronavirus. Emergency services remain at the scene."

Investigations at the scene meant an access route to Llandaff City Church in Wales Primary was closed off so the school was closed and parents were asked to come and collect their children.

An entrance to the school is on Hendre Close. One parent, who has two children at the school, said they were told there was a "serious incident" nearby and they had to come and get their children as soon as possible.

Police said: "A local school has taken a decision to close early due to an ongoing road closure which affects access to the school. We appreciate that people may be concerned and would encourage them not to speculate. Thank you."

A spokeswoman for Cardiff council said that because of access issues to the school the had staggered the release of pupils.
