Person filmed jumping up and down on police car in Newport

A person has been filmed jumping on a parked police car in a video posted on social media.

The video, filmed on Tuesday, shows an individual jumping up and down on the bonnet of a Gwent Police car parked in the Lliswerry area of Newport.

The video then shows the same police car with a smashed window and someone laughing in the background.

From the short clip, it appears that the incident took place next to the Lifestyle Express store on Cromwell Road.

Police confirmed that the car was reported as damaged while it was parked near Somerton Road on Tuesday.

It is understood that the video originally appeared on Snapchat on Tuesday and was later shared on Twitter.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "At approximately 5.15pm on Tuesday, February 23 it was reported that the windscreen of a Gwent Police car was damaged whilst parked on Somerton Road in Newport.

"Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information can call 101 quoting log 295 23/02/21."
