Climber found by off-duty cop after falling about 8m down cliff face

A 26-year-old woman has been rescued after falling six to eight metres from a rock face while climbing at Booroomba Rocks in the Namadgi National Park.

ACT police said they received reports of the injured woman at about 11.30am on Thursday.

Shortly after the fall, they said she was seen by an off-duty ACT police officer who called for help.

"The off-duty member is also a part-time member of the AFP Search & Rescue Team and was able to guide rescuers to the injured woman as well as providing vital information about her condition," ACT Policing said.

Due to the location of the rock climber, the rescue involved AFP Search and Rescue, ACT State Emergency Service, ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Parks and Toll Rescue assets.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene and airlifted by a Toll Rescue helicopter at 2.30pm.

The woman has been taken to hospital for further medical treatment, but is not believed to have life-threatening injuries.

Emergency Services ACT previously said the climber appeared to have a fractured leg.
