Person dies in Ireland after contracting coronavirus abroad

Another person has died in Ireland after contracting Covid-19 abroad, figures show.

The sad incident was reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre last Tuesday.

Health officials have not revealed the exact age, location or gender of the patient.

It brings the total number of deaths from imported cases to seven since the start of the pandemic here.

Meanwhile three more children have been hospitalised with coronavirus in Ireland.

New statistics show that three youngsters under the age of 14 were brought to hospital with Covid-19.

Two of the children were between the ages of 5-14, while one was under the age of 4.

The incident was notified to the HPSC on Monday of this week. Their current condition is not known.

In total, 91 children under the age of 14 have been hospitalised with Covid-19 since the pandemic began here.

One toddler under the age of four was brought to ICU, and they were the youngest patient here admitted to intensive care.
