One dead in Portbury Hundred crash - road to remain closed 'for some time'

Police have confirmed a crash involving a motorcyclist and a car in North Somerset has proved fatal.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary confirmed one person has died in the incident on the Portbury Hundred.

No further details are known at this stage.

Emergency services remain at the scene of the crash, which happened on the A369 between junction 119 of the M5 and Wyndham Way.

An police spokesman said: "The road - the Portbury Hundred - is likely to remain closed for some time and we are advising motorists to avoid the area, which is already becoming congested.

"Motorists travelling on the M5 both north and south can expect delays around J19 (Gordano Services) where there is severe congestion.

"Motorists will not be allowed to use the A369 to travel in the direction of Portishead."
