A person has died following an incident on an Ayrshire railway line.
British Transport Police confirmed they were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks near Cumnock yesterday afternoon.
Medics also raced to railway line but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "British Transport Police were called to the line near Cumnock at 4.42pm yesterday (March 2) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."
