A PERSON has died after being struck by a train on a busy rail line.
Police attended the scene close to Stirling station on Wednesday following reports of a casualty on the tracks. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several ScotRail services were impacted following the incident. All trains from Alloa to Glasgow Queen Street were cancelled, as well as services from Edinburgh to Dunblane.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police confirmed an investigation was underway.
In a statement, British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line close to Stirling station at 9.30pm yesterday (12 March) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances behind the person’s death.”
