Person dies after being struck by train near Glasgow

A person has died after being struck by a train in the south of Glasgow .

Emergency crews were called to Priesthill and Darnley station at around 3.30pm on Friday.

Paramedics raced to save the person's life but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Priesthill and Darnley station shortly before 3.30pm today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

The incident is causing a number of delays to customers travelling from Glasgow Central to Barrhead, Carlisle via Dumfries and Kilmarnock .

All services between these stations have either been cancelled, delayed or revised.
