A person has died after being struck by a train.
Emergency services, including paramedics and police attended Aintree train station this morning , after reports a person had been struck by a train.
Currently there are no further details on the person’s identity but British Transport Police has released the following statement.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “British Transport Police officers were called at 11:21am on March 11, to Aintree railway station following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
“Officers and paramedics attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Services were disrupted between Liverpool, Ormskirk, Southport and Hunts Cross while emergency services worked at the scene.
Network Rail has now said that train services on the affected lines are now running normally.
