Person dies after being hit by train on Glasgow line as cops probe death

A person has tragically died after being struck by a train in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to the scene between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal at around 12.30pm on Friday.

Paramedics also attended the incident but the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy while officers work to establish the person’s identity.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Paisley at around 12.30pm today (Friday 25 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are currently working to identify the person and establish the full circumstances of their death. A file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”

ScotRail has warned travellers to expect delays in the area with services to Mosspark, Crookston, Hawkhead and Paisley Canal being suspended.

They tweeted: “Unfortunately we've had reports of a person being struck by a train between Glasgow Central and Paisley Canal.

“We're working closely with emergency services at this time.”
