Person dies after being hit by train between Swindon and Bristol Parkway

A person has died after being hit by a train, impacting services to and from Bristol.

Emergency services are at the scene near Swindon and all services between the town and Bristol Parkway are suspended.

A GWR spokesperson said: “Due to a fatality all train services between Swindon and Bristol Parkway are suspended, affecting routes between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads and also between London Paddington, Cardiff Central and Swansea.

"Emergency services are currently on the scene.

We are reporting updates on the GWR travel disruption here .

The spokesperson continued: “If you are travelling between Cardiff Central / Bristol and Swindon/ London Paddington, you may travel with GWR via Gloucester/Cheltenham Spa for CrossCountry services between Bristol Temple Meads and Cheltenham Spa or with CrossCountry/ Transport for Wales between Cheltenham Spa and Cardiff Central.

"Buses have been requested at Swindon, Chippenham and Bath."
