Person dies after being hit by train between Bath Spa and Chippenham - GWR services diverted

A person has died after being hit by a train between Bath Spa and Chippenham.

The line is closed and trains between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads are being diverted via Parkway.

National Rail Western issued the following statement: “There has been a fatality on the line between Bath Spa and Chippenham. The train line will be shut while our emergency services and our mobile operations team attend the site.

“Services from Bristol Temple Meads will go via Bristol Parkway. There will be additional stops at Swindon to keep passengers moving.

“Passengers from Chippenham to London Paddington or Bath Spa/Bristol Temple Meads should take the TransWilts service from Chippenham to Swindon before changing.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey.”
