The fatality understandably triggered train disruption.

Power was switched off at Rice Lane and trains diverted to Aintree, not calling at Rice Lane, Fazakerley or Kirkby. Bus replacements were organised.

Services started to resume around 2.30pm.

British Transport Police have ruled out foul play saying the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Efforts are now underway to identify the deceased and trace their family.
