A person has died after being hit a train at Halewood station this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the station around 7.40am today.
It followed reports of someone being seen lying on the tracks at the Knowsley station. Sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to Halewood station at 7.41am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene."
She added: "Officers are now working to identify the person and in form the family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
The incident understandably caused major trains disruption.
Northern confirmed trains between Liverpool South Parkway and Manchester Oxford Road had to ground to a halt but services have resumed.
North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to Halewood train station at 7.47am.
A spokeswoman told the Liverpool ECHO: "A rapid response vehicle and advanced paramedic were sent to the scene."
