Person dies after being hit by train at Kilpatrick railway station

A person has died after being hit by a train at Kilpatrick train station.

Emergency services including officers from British Transport Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service, rushed to the scene at Kilpatrick station in West Dunbartonshire at around 8.54pm last night.

There were reports of someone injured on the tracks.

Despite efforts of paramedics on the scene the person could not be saved and died.

Services between Dalmuir to Dumbarton Central were called off as investigations took place.

The British Transport Police have since said they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Kilpatrick station at 8.54pm on 14 September following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Last night Scotrail bosses warned of the disruption.

They tweeted: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Dalmuir and Dumbarton Central.

"The line is currently closed while the emergency services attend."
