Person dies after being hit by a train in Cardiff

A person has died after being hit by a train in Cardiff on Sunday, January 31.

The incident happened on the line between Cathays and Radyr during the afternoon and emergency services were sent to the scene and the line was closed for several hours. Lines re-opened around 4.30pm.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Cardiff shortly before 2pm on 31 January following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

National Rail said on Sunday evening: "All lines have been reopened following a person having been hit by a train between Cathays and Radyr earlier today."
