An emergency in the River Dee this afternoon sparked a major emergency response from air Coastguard and lifeboats.
The Coastguard confirmed one person had to be airlifted to hospital after the search and rescue operation was launched.
A witness told the ECHO the casualty had been taken to Arrowe Park hospital after several lifeboats and hovercraft from West Kirby and Hoylake were launched alongside a Coastguard helicopter.

The response was sparked by reports of a kayaker in difficulties in the water in West Kirby.
The casualty was winched out of the water by helicopter and transported to hospital.
No information has yet been released about the rescued person's condition.
A spokesperson for the Maritime and Coastguard agency said: "At approx. 3.30pm today (12 June), HM Coastguard received reports of a kayaker in difficulties in the water in West Kirby.
"Coastguard rescue teams from Wirral and Flint, alongside the West Kirby and Hoylake RNLI lifeboats and the search and rescue helicopter from Caernarfon were sent.
"The person was winched to the helicopter and transported to hospital."
