Person airlifted to hospital after crash involving motorbike

A person has been airlifted to hospital following a crash involving a motorbike. The collision happened between Knighton and Monaughty on the A488 in Powys shortly after midday on Friday, August 5.

Police and Wales Ambulance Service attended the scene. There is no information on the condition of the person taken to hospital.

Traffic reporting system Inrix reports that the A488 has been closed in both directions since 12.20pm between Monaughty and a point further northbound towards Knighton. This has resulted in slow traffic.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called today (05 August) at 12.09pm to reports of a road traffic collision on A488. We sent one emergency ambulance and one duty operations manager to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One person was flown to University Hospital Cardiff for further treatment.”

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Officers are at the scene of a motorcycle collision on the A488 Monaughty to Knighton. The call came in at 12.10pm. One bike was involved."
